ORGANISERS of the much-hyped Alick Macheso and Freeman gig at Mandel Nite Club in Watsomba have assured their patrons of maximum security to ensure tranquillity prevails during the gig slated for next Friday.

The joint, situated about 32km outside Mutare, last hosted a sold-out gig pitting Jah Prayzah and Jah Signal about months ago.

The show gave the organisers a few areas to attend to such as the need to combat rouge elements bent on disturbing other patrons’ peace and improving efficiency at entry points.

The organisers said there will be no advance tickets.

Patrons will pay $80 while VIPs will pay $200.

Unlike the Jah Prayzah gig where the main thrust was to celebrate club owner Lovemore Mwandimutsira’s birthday, next Friday’s gig will be impregnated with an assortment of live performances.

Several local artistes and wheel spinners, whose names will be revealed in due course, will warm the stage for the two celebrated artistes.

“We would like to assure our patrons of maximum security. We realised that fun-lovers have fallen in love with the place, whether there is a show or not. And on high profile gigs like this, we need to make sure that their safety is prioritised.

“Our last gig was powerful and we are happy with the manner our patrons behaved. We have, however, decided to beef up our security by increasing the number of police officers manning the gates.

“This will also improve efficiency. We also noted the need to promote local talent as several local artistes will perform before the main gig,” said Mandimutsira.

Freeman, real name Slyvester Chizanga, is currently basking in the sun with the new album Gango which has danceable tracks such as Miridzo, Musiye, One munhu and Ngoma iyo.

Inimitable bassist, Alick Macheso is expected to pick from his rich discography such as “Mundikumbuke”, “Shedia”, “Zvakanaka Zvakadaro”, “Sarah”, “Madhuwe”, “Tafadzwa” as well as songs from his last album, “Tsoka Dzerwendo”, notably “Gungwa”, “Kurarama Inyasha” and “Mude-mude.”
