NEW kid on the block, Vimbai Dimba, has entered the gospel music scene with a bang following the release of her debut six-track album, Haakusiye.

The project, recorded at Kunashe Studios by producer Olin Anderson, contains messages of hope, faith, perseverance, love and unity.

Having nurtured her singing skills at Grace Tabernacle Church in Sakubva where she is part of the praise and worship team, the groundbreaking album is a dream come true for Dimba as she seeks to preach and inspire souls through music.

Dimba recently launched the new album at Grace Tabernacle Church.

The colourful ceremony saw multi-award winning gospel diva, Dorcas Moyo and fast rising singers, Carol Chidzikwe and Cloris Machuwaire performing.

The event was graced by National Arts Council’s Manicaland provincial manager, Carol Makoni and Pastor Kuwana of Grace Tabernacle, among others.

It was an electric carnival as the singers and the people who attended the official launch warmly celebrated Dimba’s achievement.

She did not disappoint and put up a scintillating performance.

Tracks contained on the album include Zvinotoda Jesu, Namatwai, Dai Musimi Jesu, Ndibatsirei and Kunamata Usamira.

The 36-year-old artiste said she was excited to launch the album and looks forward to inspire souls as well as make an indelible mark in the mainstream gospel music industry.

“This is a milestone achievement. It is a dream come true and I am glad that I officially launched the album in style. This marks my entrance to the gospel music scene and I am encouraged by the support I have been getting from listeners, friends and family. I draw my inspiration from the church and fellow artistes such as Carol Chidzikwe.

“My lyrics are inspired by life’s day-to-day experiences of a Christian and I encourage people to pin their hope and faith in God.

“I intend to commence performing live shows so that l reach out to a wider audience,” said Dimba.

Dimba, a mother of three, started singing at a tender age while at Independent African Church (Mushakata) before joining Grace Tabernacle Church’s praise and worship team in 2008.

She recorded her first single track, Zita RaJesu, at Kunashe Studios in 2020.

The song topped the Radio Zimbabwe Gospel 20 chart for two weeks.
