A RUSAPE-based policeman who was allegedly involved in illicit sexual relationship with a married woman has landed himself in hot soup after he was dragged to the civil court by the woman’s legitimate husband.

Sergeant Francis Sibanda, of ZRP Rusape Central and attached to Command Agriculture programme at the Chingaira Makoni Government complex, has allegedly been quenching his sexual appetite with Joyline Ganda.

Ganda is married to Johannes Rufu.

It is alleged that the lovebirds knew no bounds as they would entertain each other in the Rufus’ matrimonial bedroom. They would also engage in bush sex in Sibanda’s Toyota Corolla.

Sibanda is a married man. His wife works at Mutare Provincial Hospital and would take both her and Rufu’s stay in Mozambique to engage in shenanigans with Ganda.

Rufu and Ganda had a memorable wedding in Rusape a few years ago when they were paraded around the streets of Vengere in a donkey pulled cart to celebrate their holy matrimony.

The illicit relationship between Sibanda and Ganda came to light in October 2018 when Rufu’s children, incensed by their mother’s shameless unfaithfulness, alerted their father.

Rufu then quizzed his wife, who then admitted to cheating with Sibanda. She allegedly begged for forgiveness.

As a condition to accept her apology, Rufu asked Ganda to write a affidavit detailing her shenanigans with Sibanda in the presence of a Commissioner Oath, who then certified her account under oath.

“I Joyline Ganda, of UVE 2751, Vengere, Rusape, I am married to Johannes Rufu. I went into relationship with Francis Sibanda (mobile number 0773765185) since February 2018. (The) first time we had sexual relation in the car, second time in my house, third time in his car again along Mutare Road and the fourth, which was the last in the car in Mutare road. Francis really knows that I am a married woman and I wedded Johannes with three children,” reads part of Ganda’s affidavit.

Rufu later approached Sibanda, who allegedly admitted to having a sexual with his wife.

The two allegedly agreed that Sibanda pays $2 000 in adultery damages. The agreement was done in the form of an affidavit before a Commissioner of Oath.

“I Francis Sibanda, I am here to declare that I am going to pay Mr Johannes Rufu an amount of $2 000. I am going to start to pay by the end of this month (November 2018) in installments of $200, failure to pay we are going to refer this affidavit to Number 21,” reads part of Sibanda’s affidavit.

After some days Rufu demanded that the money be paid in US dollars and Sibanda argued that he cannot afford, and asked to pay in Bond notes.

A permission was granted and another affidavit in which Sibanda was going to pay Rufu $6 000 was written and certified.

“I Francis Sibanda, I am going to pay Mr Rufu an amount of $6000 up to the end of this November 2018. This is for damages I made on making (sic) a love affair with his wife. Failure to do this, Mr Rufu is to take the story or issue further,” reads part of the affidavit.

Sibanda only paid Rufu $200 via the Commissioner of Oath’s Ecocash account, prompting Rufu to take the matter further as per their agreement.

Rufu reported Sibanda to his superiors at Police General Headquarters, who responded by transferring him to Headlands Police Station.

He is allegedly facing disciplinary action.

“I make reference to your complaint which you lodged at Police General Headquarters on January 25, 2019. Investigations carried out revealed that Sergeant Sibanda and your wife were in an intimate relationship as evidenced by affidavit statements by both of them.

“Sergeant Sibanda is now facing a disciplinary action for bringing the organisation into disrepute. He has been transferred to ZRP Headlands with immediate effect. You are being advised to pursue your case with the civil court for arbitration,” read a letter written to Rufu by Assistant Commissioner N. Jaboon.

Rufu has since engaged Chiwanza and Partners Legal Practitioners to sue Sibanda for adultery damages. Last Friday he dragged Ganda and her father to Chief Makoni’s court demanding his lobola back.

However, Chief Makoni ruled that Ganda’s father must not suffer for his daughter’s misdeeds since she was a grown up person. Rufu and Ganda’s divorce is being handled at the Mutare High Court.
