ZIMBABWEANS are now politically mature and are aware of the economic destabilisation tactics that are instigated by hostile nations and fronted by opposition political elements each time the country goes for elections, a senior Government official has said.

Addressing hundreds of delegates at the Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches (ZIICC) prayer meeting at Mutare Hall on Wednesday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa said whenever the country goes for elections, economic destabilisation comes in different forms as a means to unseat Zanu PF.

“We are now aware due to past experiences. Each time we have elections, we have economic destabilisation tactics instigated by hostile nations and fronted by opposition political elements.

“This is why we were witnessing currency instability and price hikes of basic commodities. This is cheap politicking meant to portray Zanu PF in bad fight.

“However, Zimbabweans appreciate the good work that President Mnangagwa and his Government are doing. The Harare-Beitbridge Highway, the Beitbridge Border entry point on the Zimbabwean side and many more developmental projects speak for themselves,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

She said international journalists are in the country to appreciate the peace and development that the Second Republic has been promoting during the past five years.

“Even the international media now understands that the narrative that was all along being peddled by hostile nations about Zimbabwe is false.

She said President Mnangagwa values the role played by indigenous churches in fostering unity and peace, hence the pledge to avail more land for them to conduct their prayer sessions.

Speaking during the same occasion, ZIIC secretary general, Mr Thasin Dube thanked President Mnangagwa’s administration for its support and respect for the church.

Zanu PF aspiring candidate for Dangamvura, Cde Clide Jani; Chikanga Constituency aspiring candidate, Cde Kennedy Muchina and Cde Misheck Mugadza, Member of Parliament for Mutasa South Constituency attended the prayer meeting.

Gospel of God Church, Zion Christian Church, AAFIZ, Zion Apostolic Church, Family of God International, Living Life International Ministry. ZAOGA Forward in Faith, CPCA, Anglican Church, Jekenisheni Apostolic Church, Leading Light International, Kutenda KweVatumwa Apostolic Church and Zviratidzo ZveVapostori, among other ZIICC affiliates graced the occasion.
