ZANU PF provincial Women’s League chairlady, Cde Happiness Nyakuedzwa is the latest cadre to have her candidature endorsed by the Politburo.

Other contestants have already regrouped and embraced each other to ensure resounding victory for the ruling party.
The ZANU PF primary elections saw some party heavyweights falling by the wayside.

ZANU PF national secretary for information and publicity, Cde Chris Mutsvangwa said there was a correction which leaves Cde Nyakuedzwa duly elected to fill the Woman’s Quota slot for Makoni District.

Cde Mutsvangwa said every election has to have a winner, and the party should swiftly pick up the pieces following the electoral process that claimed the scalps of some party chefs in the province.

He said supporters should unite and build a strong support base.

Cde Mutsvangwa added that the party should emerge from the internal poll more united and tolerant as the process was meant to enhance internal participatory democracy, avoid imposition of candidates and minimise disgruntlement within its rank and file.

“After several sessions of the Politburo, we are at this final stage where the winning team of ZANU PF is now launched. This is the team that we will be fielding to confront the MDC and CCC opposition parties in the coming elections.

“We are very confident that we will win resoundingly since this team was elected democratically. We want to assure the nation that there is reconciliation between the losers and winners,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
The outcome announced in Manicaland’s 24 constituencies was widely accepted by the candidates and their supporters, with focus now on the harmonised elections expected between July and August this year.

Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere will now represent the party in his Makoni West Constituency after the disqualification of Cde Moses Ruwona.

Cde Ruwona had emerged victorious but it later emerged that the paperwork justifying his transfer from Matabeleland North to Manicaland was implausible.

Another sitting MP and veteran politician, Cde Enock Porusingazi bounced back following the disqualification of Robert Nyemudzo for allegedly operating an illicit brewery at his Checheche home.
Nyemudzo was on Monday hauled before the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court for contravening the Harmful Liquids Act, Chapter 9:10.

He pleaded not guilty when he appeared before magistrate, Mr Franklin Mkwananzi. In Mutare South, Cde Godfrey Harahwa was disqualified for allegedly tampering with the ballots in his favour, and Cde Tawanda Dumbarimwe will now represent the party in that Constituency.

The other candidates are Cdes Joshua Sacco (Chimanimani East), Chido Sanyatwe (Nyanga North), Supa Mandiwanzira (Nyanga South), Misheck Mugadza (Mutasa South), Raymore Machingura (Chipinge Central), Isau Mupfumi (Mutare Central), Shepard Nyika (Makoni Central), Farai Mapfumo (Headlands), Joseph Muwombi (Makoni North), Innocent Benza (Mutasa Central), Obey Bvute (Mutasa North), Ngonidzashe Mudekunye (Buhera South), Tafadzwa Mugwadi (Buhera West), Phillip Guyo (Buhera North), Samson Matema (Buhera Central), Admire Mahachi (Mutare North), Clide Jani (Dangamvura), Kenneth Muchina (Chikanga), Lincoln Dhliwayo (Chipinge East), Angeline Gata (Mutema-Musikavanhu) and Wilson Maphosa (Chimanimani West).

Results for Makoni South, Mutare West and the Youth Quota had not been announced at the time of going to print. Zanu PF provincial spokesman, Cde Matema also called for unity ahead of the national elections.

“Now that the primary elections have come and gone, the province is resolute in its quest to deliver a resounding victory for President Mnangagwa and the revolutionary Zanu PF during the harmonised elections later this year.

“The party is united, and the unity finds expression in the fact that in ZanuPF there are no winners and losers. Those that participated in the elections have since come together, regrouped, and are singing from the same hymn sheet,” said Cde Matema.
