CLAIMING that he has a vampire spirit that causes him to bite his wife’s breasts and shoulders recently landed a Mutare man in court.

Ms Nella Chitaitai laid bare the alleged family secret when she appeared before a Mutare magistrate last week on Tuesday after she had dragged her ‘blood-sucking’ husband, Mr Moses Nyamuteka, to court.

She was seeking maintenance for their two children.

Ms Chitaitai said Mr Nyamuteka has sharp teeth and she feels immense pain each time he bites her.

“He tells me that he has a spirit, a very evil spirit that orders him to bite me each time we become intimate or fight. I have scars all over my body, which are his bite marks Your Worship. Each time I ask him to take care of his children, we get into a fight and he bites me. Sometimes when we are being intimate, he bites me.

“I have tried asking him why he does that, but the answer is always the same. He says he has an evil spirit that makes him act like a vampire. I, however, wonder if this spirit also asks him to bite his first wife because she never complains,” she added. However, Mr Nyamuteka denied the allegations.

He claimed that Ms Chitaitai had the bite marks before they got married some nine years ago.

But Ms Chitaitai insisted.

“He threatened that he would deny biting me but it’s true. I have fresh wounds to prove that he last bit me last month,” she said as she opened her blouse to show the old and fresh bite marks on her shoulders.

Mr Nyamuteka then claimed that he had only bit her once.

“She wanted to stab me with a knife and I had to bite her in self defence. She was acting like a possessed person,” he said.

Ms Chitaitai was applying for $1 900 as maintenance for their two minor children, but Nyamuteka offered to pay $600, claiming that he only earns $1 300.

He also told the court that he had another wife and two other children.

The matter was adjourned to June 29 to allow Ms Chitaitai to verify Mr Nyamuketa’s earnings with his employer.

Mr Nyamuteka had to be ushered out of the court by the police as he would not stop ranting about how Ms Chitaitai only wanted to fix him.

“If I pay that maintenance, she wants to employ a maid so that she can go out and have fun with her friends, leaving my children alone,” he shouted as left the court.
