Timber poachers granted bail

ELEVEN timber poachers who were arrested this week for attacking police officers on duty and wantonly cutting down timber at Tarka Estate in Chimanimani were on Thursday granted $4 000 bail each.

Tatenda Dzungudza, Blessing Mutiro, Nobert Tomboriro, Paul Abhodho, Charles Rukezo, Morris Tendani, Gladman Chaitazvimwe, Knowledge Tryson Ngangurwa, Pardon Machekano, Tinashe Munaiwa and Victor Mwadzura are facing theft, robbery and public violence charges.

They were granted bail by senior Chipinge magistrate, Mr Poterai Gwezhira and were remanded to July 20 for trial.

Mr Gwezhira ordered the suspects not to be seen within 500 metres radius of Tarka Estate and not to interfere with witnesses.

They were also ordered to report thrice per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Kurwaisimba Police Base.

Mr Themba Dhliwayo prosecuted.
