A DANGAMVURA man was found dead at Mukwena Shopping Centre in Dangamvura last week on Saturday.

While police this week revealed that they were conducting investigations on what caused Gift Nyamarebvu’s death, his family is suspecting foul play.

Nyamarebvu’s body was found two days after he had gone missing from his  Area 14, Dangamvura home.

The deceased, popularly known as ‘Givy the bumper’, was well-known in the ghetto for his love of wise waters.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Norbert Muzondo said he was found dead around 5am by a passerby, Mr Taurai Kurira.

“We can confirm the death of Gift Nyamarebvu, whose body was found lying at Mukwena Shopping Centre in Dangamvura on March 25 at 5am. Taurai Kurira found Gift’s body lying on the ground facing upwards and he reported the matter to the police. We are currently conducting investigations to ascertain the cause of his death,” said Inspector Muzondo.

The deceased’s sister, Sandra, believed that Nyamarebvu was murdered and dumped.

“We will let police do their job, but we strongly believe that Mukoma Givy was murdered. I was in South Africa when my mother called me saying he (Givy) had not returned home. This was very unusual because Mukoma would always return home every day before dusk. He never wanted to come home late, and that is when everyone started looking for him. Our uncle and others went as far as Nyanga Turn-off to look for him.

“We did not make a police report thinking that he would return home the following day. On the day that we wanted to alert the police that he was missing, we received a call from a stranger who told us that he had seen Mukoma Givy’s body. According to people who arrived at the scene first, he looked fresh and there is a possibility that he may have been murdered and dumped there. We have a lot of unanswered questions, but we will leave police to do their job,” said Sandra.

Nyamarebvu was expected to be laid to rest in Kuambana Village in Honde Valley tomorrow.
