IT’S that time of the year again when fun lovers, travel enthusiasts and live music aficionados gather, merry make and celebrate life in the soothing waters and mountain banks of the majestic tourism wonder of Osborne Dam in Mutasa District.

This year’s Diamond FM Summer Festival will be held at Osborne Dam, with a star-studied line-up of artistes scheduled to entertain scores of people expected to throng the spacious site.

Artistes who have confirmed their participation include Baba Harare, Saintfloew, Templeman, DJ Tanaman, Zintronix, Caff, Mega Compression, Mystery, Bonny T as well as various Diamond FM wheel spinners.

One of the main performers, Baba Harare, is descending on Mutare at a time when his fans are marvelling and enjoying his newly-released and sizzling hot album, “Prove Them Wrong”.

The project, which is no doubt the lanky artiste’s best ever album, carries danceable and trending songs such as “Muchazvirega”, “Ahe” and “Kwaanengeada”, among others.

Baba Harare is also expected to belt out another potential hit, “Mombasa Nairobi”, which features man-of-the-moment, Saintfloew, who is also another top performer billed to perform at the highly-publicised event.

The energetic Saintfloew is also expected to put up a top-drawer performance and prove why he is the country’s current sought-after musician.

He is popular for sing along songs such as “Mutemo Wemukombi”, “Kana Usingade” and “One by One”, which he did with Julian King.

Templeman, DJ Tanaman and Zintronix are entertainers par-excellence and are expected to thrill fans with their energy and dexterity on the turntables, while youthful singer, Lionel “Caff” Matanda, who is riding high with new club tracks “Wendimba” and “Wangele”, is expected to be at his best on stage.

The event dubbed “Samaz Time” starts at 10am and winds up at 11pm.

Admission is US$5 for adults, while kids will pay US$3 for advance tickets.

The tickets will cost US$10 at the gate.

There is something for everyone at the venue.

Other entertainment activities lined-up for the day include swimming, boat rides, braai, quad bikes, kids play centres and horse rides.

People who intend to be part of the carnival are urged to storm the venue early and enjoy the full package.

Besides entertainment, the event is also a platform for people to mix and mingle, while those selling their products are expected to smile all the way to the bank.

Diamond FM’s station manager, Jabulani “JB” Mangezi, said it is all systems go.

“We are ready to host yet another carnival full of festivities. We are happy with the response this forthcoming event has been receiving. It will be a bigger and better event as we expect fun lovers, families included, from all walks of life, to attend. Advance tickets are being sold at The Manica Post/Diamond FM offices,” he said.

Nature enthusiasts will also have the time of their lives come tomorrow.

They will experience the beauty of this massive expanse of water which affords spectacular sunsets, water sports and good fishing.

The majestic lake stretches for 16km up to Odzi River, and 15km along its Nyatande River tributary.

The area has a moderate climate with an average temperature of 24 degrees Celsius.

Last year’s event brought together scores of people from all age groups.

Visitors and fun lovers, especially first timers, viewed the dam in awe, while the calm waters provided peace and tranquillity.

Others took the opportunity to tour the areas surrounding the dam as they enjoyed some Kodak moments.
