MUTARE-BASED gospel supremo, Dorcas Moyo, is walking with a spring in her step after being nominated for the prestigious Christian Legendary and Impact Makers Awards (CLIMA) in which she will battle it out with other female Africa gospel greats.

Moyo, who is representing Zimbabwe, is squaring off with Yadah and Mercy Chinwo of Nigeria, Deborah Lukalu of Democratic Republic of Congo, Janet Otieno of Kenya and Winnie Mashaba of South Africa in the Africa Best Female Gospel artiste of the year category.

This will be no doubt Moyo’s biggest and most prestigious award after previously scooping the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) and National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA).

CLIMA award is designed to be the apex Christian Awards in Nigeria.

It is aimed at celebrating Christian professional and ministers of God with integrity.

Voting starts from July 1 to August 31 this year on www.climaafrica.org.

In an interview this week, an elated Moyo said the recognition came as a shock to her, adding that her nomination is in sync with her brand’s trajectory of spreading their tentacles across the globe.

She urged Zimbabweans, in and outside the country to vote for her in their numbers.

“We are extremely excited to be part of the nominees. This is quite in synch with our trajectory. We have set ourselves the objective to spread our tentacles across the globe.

“ The nomination hereon is a true testimony that we have carved some inroads in our quest.

“It will be a great disappointment if I fail to mention the Dorcas Moyo music family (fans) for praises as they continue pushing us to scale higher all the times. I am humbly soliciting that they vote in their multitudes so that in the slightest of chances we land the gong by God’s grace.

“We are extra grateful to all our stakeholders and media practitioners for their unwavering support.

“We wait in anticipation for the final announcement. Be it as it may, we are contented by the mere nomination, whatever comes beyond that is a bonus for us,” said Moyo.

Moyo, who was speaking through her manager, Peter Madondo, said preparations for her album, Mvere Dzabvepi’s launch are at an advanced stage.

She said artistes slated to perform at the launch like Sulumani Chimbetu, Alick Macheso, Mathias Mhere, Blessing Shumba, Carol Chidzikwe, Fenny Kerubo from Kenya and Rose Muhando from Tanzania are ready for the showdown.

The album launch will be held on April 27 at Chancellor Junior School in Mutare.
