MANICA Diamonds defender Partson Jaure made the difference for the home side as championship chasing ZPC Kariba fell to an agonising one nil defeat today at Vengere Stadium in Rusape.
The home team had the former Dynamos defence lynchpin to thank as he showed class with every touch of the ball let alone the breathtaking 84th minute goal line clearance that ensured the Gem Boys do not drop two points on home turf.
The match started at a slow pace with both teams hesitant to venture upfront.
Manica Diamonds threaded only four passes from the centre to the visitors penalty box in the first move of the start of the second half and PC Kariba defender Collins Mleya’s effort to clear the ball saw him tapping home from close range to score an own goal that turned out to be the only goal of the match.
Even though he had done well from the onset of the encounter to earn the admiration of many as started play from the back with maturity and style, it was in the 84th minute that Jaure sealed his place in the hearts and minds of home team fans with a goal line clearance off a Samuel Makawa shot that almost found its way across the goal line.
