Govt rolls out vaccination programme in Chipinge

THE Ministry of Health and Child Care will this month roll out the national campaign on expanded programme of immunisation in Chipinge District.

The vaccination programme will be against diseases like poliomyelitis, typhoid and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

Chipinge District medical director, Dr Brian Makumbe, confirmed the development and said the programme will commence on May 24 and will run up to June 4.

Dr Makumbe said Vitamin A supplementation will also be given to prevent eye diseases during the programme.

“I can confirm the vaccination programme which will be rolled out this month. The target population will be children from nine months to below 15 years.
“On HPV1,the target population will be Grade 5 school girls and 10-year-olds out of school, while on HPV2 virus, the target population will be Grade Six school girls and 11-year-olds out of school,” he said.
Vaccines which will be administered are Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV), Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Inactivated Polio Vaccine, (IPV) Campaign and Vitamin A Supplementation.
