FAST foods company, Eat n’ Lick operations manager, Aleck Nyemba is embroiled in a nasty sexual harassment case in which he stands accused of harassing several junior female employees at his workplace.

Nyemba was suspended pending investigations and subsequent hearing.

Eat n’ Lick chairman, Bishop Isaiah Musabayana confirmed Nyemba’s suspension on numerous allegations of sexual harassment.

Asked about the allegations that his operations manager was facing, Bishop Musabayana said: “Yes, he is on suspension on those allegations and I am sure the hearing is on this week. I will update you about the outcome of the hearing next week.”

When pestered on the outcome of the hearing: Bishop Musabayana said: “Our procedures demand that he is given full rights especially before the hearing. Some of the messages you got from our staffers will end up jeopardising the investigations and hearing. He can end up only suffering from the public court of opinion, but escaping from the charges based on the labour laws of the country

“After a hearing they normally compile a determination report within 48 hours which they submit to the managing director’s office. On senior managers like Aleck, the managing director has the final say.”

Even though Bishop Musabayana was not clear on the number of allegations as well as their nature, The Weekender understands that Nyemba allegedly coerced some female employees into sexual relations and would threaten them with dismissal if they resist.

In some cases, Nyemba, who is understood to be in the habit of boasting of, not only his position in the company, but also his strong ties with his boss, Bishop Musabayana, is said to have requested some junior female employees to accompany him to meet Bishop Musabayana at some secret locations.

He would pretend as if he was sent by the boss to do so, yet it was his well calculated move to pounce on the employee.

When contacted for comment on the allegations he is allegedly facing, Nyemba said: “I don’t suspend people and that is not my job. If it has to do with Eat n’ Lick, engage the powers that be there. It is very unfortunate that I am not the company spokesperson and I am sure you can ask for the human resources manager, maybe he can assist you on this. I also do not have the letter you are talking about. I am actually hearing it from you.”

A fast growing fast foods entity, Eat n’ Lick, which opened its 19th branch in Gweru in 2022, opened its first branch in Chinhoyi in 2014.

It has outlets in Harare, Mutare, Chegutu, Rusape, Chinhoyi, Karoi, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Chivhu and Gweru.
