AWARD-WINNING gospel musician, Dorcas Moyo has gone regional by roping in artistes from East Africa to be part of a star-studied cast headlining her album launch at Chancellor Junior School next month.

Weekender Entertainment can reveal that Fenny Kerubo, an established gospel musician from Kenya and Rose Muhando (Tanzania) will be in the eastern border city for the launch.

They will join sungura veteran, Alick Macheso, Dendera star, Sulumani Chimbetu and gospel singers, Mathias Mhere and Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave at the album launch.

Moyo’s forthcoming album, Mvere Dzabvepi will be her 10th project.

It will feature various artistes and personalities like Shugeta and Batsirai Shasha. Moyo last released the album, Mhanza Haisekwe in 2023, which saw her being voted the best female artiste on Radio Zimbabwe.

She also scooped a prestigious gong at last year’s NAMA awards – emerging as the outstanding female musician.

What makes Moyo’s forthcoming launch more special and potentially-electrifying is the inclusion of Kerubo and Muhando as part of the cast, as all her previous album unveilings were graced by local artistes only.

In an interview this week, Moyo said she is excited to bring together a star-studied lineup on one turf.

She said preparations for the event are proceeding well.

Moyo believes her lyrical wizardry and poetic affluence will make the forthcoming album a stand out.

“The preparations have gathered immense momentum. It is not a secret that this is probably one of the biggest musical events to happen in Mutare. As such, it comes with bigger demands. The artistes are ready and raring to descend on Mutare. Remember, we have international and renowned gospel artistes coming down as well. The last to confirm was Rose Muhando, one of the biggest gospel artistes on the continent.

“We are feeling the heat, but it is something we can handle. The album (Mvere Dzabvepi) is surely a masterpiece. The forthcoming album is a living and life changing album that seeks primarily to give reverence to Yahweh and secondarily address a plethora of societal vices. It is crafted in a way that will captivate a cross section of age groups. It is a composition that speaks to matters of the spirit and society,” said Moyo.

Other festivities characterising the day include kids games, jumping castles, horse riding and braai.
