THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) has reiterated its commitment to curb the spread of Covid-19 among prisoners and prisons staff in Manicaland Province by embracing vaccination.

In a move that will see the service’s officers and those serving time in jail getting inoculated, ZPSC recently launched a programme to scale up the vaccination exercise.

ZPCS Manicaland Medical Officer, Chief Superintendent Dr Joe Lincoln Nduna said since its inception, the programme had received positive response as many of their officers and prisoners were taking up the jabs across the province.

Chief Supt Nduna said since the pandemic was sparing no one, vaccination is a safe way of saving lives and it is important that their stakeholders receive the doses.

He said that some ZPCS staff members and prisoners are among the casualties who have succumbed to Covid-19 since the outbreak of the disease.

Chief Supt Nduna also urged people to continue observing the recommended health guidelines and lockdown protocols.

ZPCS Commissioner General Moses Chihobvu was the first person in the service to be vaccinated as he led by example.
