MUTARE-BASED cricket outfit, Mega Market Mountaineers might have missed the top accolade in the just-ended T20 competition and the Pro50 contest, but is taking pride in masterminding a Logan Cup triumphant campaign.

The Mega Market Mountaineers recently paraded their Logan Cup silverware in the eastern border city.

In the triumphant Logan Cup campaign, Mega Market Mountaineers bowled out Eagles twice in their final Logan Cup encounter which they won by an innings and 123 runs to lift the prestigious trophy for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

The points gained from the Eagles encounter saw them overtake Southern Rocks’ tally of 122 to finish the competition with 130 at the summit of the table.

Speaking during the trophy parade that ended with a tour of Mega Market’s milling plant in Nyakamete Industrial Area and donation of food hampers to Simukai Children Protection Programme, Mega Market’s managing director, Shiraan Ahmed, who was represented by the company’s learning and development manager, Cathrine Bvakacha, said: “Our sponsorship for Mountaineers is not just about promoting sport, but creating opportunities for our youths to excel and pursue their dreams.

“Your success on the field of play does not just inspire aspiring cricketers, but also instils a sense of pride to our community. We welcome the move by Mountaineers to donate to Simukai Children’s Protection Programme, further enhancing the spirit of giving to the needy which we value at Mega Market.”

Manicaland Cricket Association chairperson, Maureen Kuchocha said: “I want to thank our sponsors, Mega Market and Willowton. Your donation enabled us to extend a helping hand to Simukai Children’s Protection Programme.

This is a programme that changes children’s lives for the better, and we are grateful as Mountaineers to assist in our small way”.
