NEWLY promoted Zifa Eastern Region Division One outfit Redwing Mine FC has begun preparations ahead of the start of the 2017 season.

Redwing Mine said they are ready to face any team in the league and have set their targets for the 2017 season.

The new boys in the region have started their pre season training under the watchful eye of their gaffer Benjamin Pasula and his deputy Nick Right.

“We have now entered our second week of preparations.

“We are working very hard as a team and we haven’t signed any players but still assessing as we have a lot of trialists.

“We are hoping for a fruitful season. We are still new in Division One League.

“We have a lot of talented youngsters who I think with time can compete with the best in the league.

“Our target is to avoid relegation and give the youngsters a chance to prove their talents then work on our way up.

“We want the exposure. We are working on acquiring few players with experience who will add value to the team.

“We are also hoping to sign players with the much needed experience to help lead the new players. Our major goals are to nature and develop talent and above all we want to gain promotion to play in the elite league,” he added.

Pasula who joined Redwing Mine last year from Jumbo Pirates is a holder of Level C coaching certificate and is working on upgrading his qualifications.

Meanwhile, the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One League will explode into life the second week of April.

ZIFA Eastern Region is meant for three provinces namely Manicaland, Mashonaland East and Masvingo.

A provisional list of the 21 clubs that have shown interest to participate in the Zifa Eastern Region has since been drawn and now awaits confirmation to be made during the league’s AGM pencilled for April 8.

The regional secretary Wisdom Simba said that the new teams that are coming in are Mucheke Pirates, United Lions both from Masvingo, Chitungwiza United and Redwing Mine.

“We have Mucheke Pirates, United Lions, Chitungwiza United and Redwing Mine FC.

“We will finalise everything on April 8. Acceptance into the league will also be subject to payment of affiliation fee of $2 500 for old clubs and $3 000 for new clubs.

“We are expecting a good season from these teams,” he added.
