PRESIDENT Mnangagwa recently donated 10 000 macadamia seedlings to farmers in Chipinge Central District.

The donation will benefit 14 wards from the macadamia farming district.

Farmers from Ward Seven have already benefitted from the timely donation.

Speaking during the distribution of the seedlings at Clearwater Grounds, Ward Seven councillor, Councillor Lazarus Dhliwayo expressed gratitude to President Mnangagwa’s donation, saying it is a testament of His Excellency’s hard work.

He encouraged farmers to grab this opportunity and plant the macadamia seedlings to boost their plantations.

The event was also graced by agricultural extension officers from the area, Ms Ulitah Mushinyi and Mr Farai Chivhunze, as well as agricultural extension coordinator, Mr Alfred Maposa, who educated the farmers on how to plant the trees.

Mr Maposa implored the farmers to use the appropriate fertiliser and organic manure when planting the seedlings.

They were also encouraged to take the samples of their soil before planting.

“Let us all utilise this Presidential gift. We will continue monitoring these plants, therefore, let us do our best, considering that we have been taught how to plant them,” said Mr Maposa.

Zanu PF Ward Seven chairman, Cde Partson Ziyadhuma also applauded President Mnangagwa for the donation.

“We encourage people to work hard and change their lives for the better through farming.
“Let us remain united and work together to attain Vision 2030.

“We are quite ecstatic that our villages benefited from the Presidential donation. Our duty now is to nurture these plants,” said Cde Ziyadhuma.

The President’s donation benefited farmers from Wedgehill Manhungumira, Lot 3 A and B, Chidongo, Mwoyoweshumba, Makwehete.
