ZANU PF has issued a prohibition order pending a hearing to its Women’s League Manicaland provincial chairperson, Cde Happiness Nyakuedzwa for gross misconduct after she allegedly failed to comply with the ruling party’s constitution.

The order provisionally bars Cde Nyakuedzwa from participating in party activities for 21 days as the party conducts an inquiry into the allegations levelled against her.

In a communique to Cde Nyakudzwa dated February 2, 2023 and seen by this publication, ZANU PF national secretary for Women Affairs, Cde Mabel Chinomona said Cde Nyakuedzwa allegedly failed to observe and abide by the policies, rules and regulations of the party and the matter will be heard at ZANU PF headquarters.

“The national leadership has resolved to issue you with a prohibition order pending hearing of the case at the ZANU PF headquarters 21 days after receipt of this letter. As such, you are provisionally barred from talking part in any party activity pending the inquiry into allegations levelled against you. Further take note that you have the right to be assisted in the conduct of your case by a member of the party of your choice in terms of Article 10 Section 75 of the party constitution,” wrote Cde Chinomona.

Cde Nyakuedzwa is alleged to have disrupted elections which were officiated by national secretary for external affairs in the Women’s League, Cde Betty Kaseke where the former allegedly insulted and threatened the latter as well as incited violence against election officials.

Said Cde Chinomona: “It is further alleged that you tore registers and ballot papers meant for the elections and also refused to comply with a lawful circular endorsing elections written by the national secretary for the Women’s League.”

Instead of implementing the contents of the circular which contained election results, Cde Nyakuedzwa allegedly imposed members of her choice to the vacant positions, added Cde Chinomona.

Cde Nyakuedzwa also allegedly failed to comply with a lawful instruction to observe seniority in allocating the Central Committee position as she selected a district official ahead of a senior cadre who is a former Central Committee member.

“Further to that, you failed to comply with the circular written by (ZANU PF Women’s League political commissar, Cde Maybe Mbowa. The circular directed you to reinstate the district chairwoman who had been suspended by the Makoni District Coordinating Committee Women’s Affairs,” said Cde Chinomona.
