ONE person died on the spot while two others sustained serious injuries when two vehicles collided at Christmas Pass this afternoon.
The injured were ferried to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.
When the news crew arrived at the scene, the deceased’s body was still lying covered on the ground.
Acting Manicaland Provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the accident.
“For now I can confirm that one person died on the spot and three were injured and taken to hospital. We will provide more details later,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
According to the driver of the truck, the Isuzu vehicle which was driving towards Mutare encroached into the opposite lane, causing the collision.
“I was driving towards Harare and the driver of the Isuzu failed to negotiate the curve and encroached into the lane of oncoming vehicle. Our vehicles then collided collided,” he said.
The driver of the Isuzu said he was still shaken and could not speak to the Press.
