INFORMATION, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa has described the late ZAOGA (FIF) founder, Archbishop Ezekiel Guti as a highly spiritual being with an intensely patriotic flavour.

In a statement, Minister Mutsvangwa said: “As Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, I am painfully and deeply saddened by the loss of Baba Bishop Guti. Bishop Guti was a highly spiritual being with an intensely patriotic flavour. His philanthropy touched many diverse lives as they carried out the daily chores of life.

“Above all, he had overflowing love for my family. I fondly remember him flying all the way to Beijing, China to administer grace to our Ambassadorship at the height of the Look East Policy and the sanctions geopolitical challenges from 2002-7.”

A strong believer in indigenous church ownership, Dr Guti established one of the largest Pentacostal churches in the country, Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) in 1960.

“Dr Guti’s philanthropic work and his love for Zimbabwe was unwavering as he founded Ezekiel Guti University and Mbuya Dorcas Hospital, among other similar institutions across the country. These projects complement Government’s efforts in ensuring access to tertiary education and medical care by all.

“Indeed, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the Deputy Minister, Honourable Kindness Paradza, the Permanent Secretary, Nick Mangwana, the Chief Director, Jonathan Gandari, directors and staff in my ministry, I want to convey my sincere condolences to Mama Professor Guti, the ZAOGA Church across the world, and to many Zimbabweans who were touched by Baba’s work,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
