RISING Afro-fusion musician, Ranson Madzamba, has honoured all liberation war heroes and heroines through a soulful track, “Tinochema Magamba”.

The song, which is a fusion of traditional and contemporary instruments such as mbira, congas, acoustic guitar and saxophone to produce a distinct sound was recorded at Maselo Studios.

This is Madzamba’s second Pan-African song after he coined the song, Africa early this year which was well received across the country and continent at large.

Despite honouring gallant sons and daughters who fought the Chimurenga war, Madzamba also pays tribute to musicians who unified the nation through art such as Soul Jah Love and Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi.

In an interview this week, Madzamba said he was humbled by the feedback he was receiving since the release of the song which was accompanied by a video.

“The song is a dedication to the sacrifices made by the late heroes and heroines of the liberation struggle. In the song, I am saying it is now upon us now the living to embrace the philosophies and ideologies of the late national heroes like Herbert Chitepo, Josiah Tongogara and Willie Musarurwa.

“I am inspired by the Zimbabwean history and our continent at large. My grandfathers and father participated in the liberation struggle and this has to a greater extent inspired me to be ever patriotic and prioritise my country first in everything I do,” he said.

The Afro-fusion artiste who has toured and performed in Asia, said he was working on more projects.

He is set to release a four-track album, “Wandisiya Pamhene” next month.

“Everything is progressing on well and I am actually a happy man as I have managed to penetrate a cut-throat industry. People are appreciating my music.

“The music is also receiving the much-needed air play on various radio stations. The video of the song, “Tinochema Magamba” became the video of the week last week on ZBC TV on Sunday and this indeed indicates a lot in as far as Mazarura Music and brand is concerned.

“The sky is just the limit. Next month, I will be releasing an album, “Wandisiya Pamhene”.

“I have already shot four videos of the songs on the album. I know Zimbabweans will be serenaded by the songs since I have put my all in the album production.

“The album is a mixed bag, but all in all it has more of traditional mbira music. I have my fans outside Zimbabwe who like our traditional mbira music. The reception outside the country is overwhelming, a reason which keeps me going,” he added.

His road to stardom started in 2009 at Midlands State University (MSU) when he would attend mbira playing sessions by Music and Musicology students at the institution.
