MANICALAND’S leading weekly newspaper, The Manica Post’s Editor, Mrs Wendy Nyakurerwa-Matinde scooped the prestigious outstanding business leader of repute award at the Zimbabwe CEO Network Awards held in Mutare last week on Friday.

She was honoured for being an outstanding personality of recondite business acumen and character.

Mrs Nyakurerwa-Matinde, who has stirred the publication to dizzy heights, with the Zimbabwe All Media Product Survey (ZAMPS) saying The Manica Post is now the second most read weekly newspaper in the country, acknowledged the support she is receiving from her team.

“I would like to thank the organisers for the recognition. I would also like to say thank you to Team Manica Post. The fact that I am receiving this award means my team is making my work much easier, they are giving me all the support that I need. I also appreciate my husband’s support,” she said in her acceptance speech.

Mrs Nyakurerwa-Matinde all thanked the readers and the advertisers of The Manica Post for the continued support.
“A gentle reminder to you all – they do not advertise in the Manica Post because they are big, they are big because they advertise with us,” she said.

Mr Washington Mbonyeya was the outstanding young manager of the year after being recognised for his audacious finite character of distinctness at the business space.

Mr Isaac Sandurani also excelled in the outstanding young manager category for being an outstanding professional of well matriculated profundity thoughts.

Chimanimani Rural District Council’s chief executive officer, Mr Nehemiah Deure shone in the outstanding local authority leader category and was awarded for exuding mellifluous character to the business profession with a deep epiphany.

Mrs Nomsa Chiadzwa-Chave, the director of Kiddy College, excelled in the outstanding businesswoman category.

Some of the winners interviewed said the awards would stir them to greater heights.

Mr Lloyd Mapungwa of Twin Towers said: “It is an honour to be among the best chief executives in the province. It has not been easy, but we have been excelling and doing good, thanks to our leader, President Mnangagwa who has given us the necessary support through great policies.

“As we work towards achieving an upper middle-income economy by 2030, we will continue working hard.”

The Zimbabwe CEO’s Network offers opportunities for learning and development through peer group meetings facilitated by experienced CEO group leaders.

It also conducts targeted one-to-one mentoring sessions through a customised curriculum and focused learning events throughout the year.
