In search of space and privacy the Hilbright star has moved to the lush Vumba escarpment. Here the star perches higher and brighter. Here the Science College finds peace away from the hubbub of the city into a spacious, calm, serene, quiet and peaceful environ. Exactly what Hilbright has been looking for, for a long time! The leafy and placid Vumba gives the New Hilbright the convenience many schools die to secure but do not get. Over and above the quintessential surroundings in the Vumba enclave, the verdant environ offers beauty that feeds the mind and provides a suitable atmosphere for learning.

The pleasures and beautiful hullabaloo of the city has never been conducive for serious learning. If anything, the attractions of every city have been known to be the mother of all sorts of tomfoolery and indiscipline for young minds. Peaceful isolated environs often naturally stop all monkey business amongst learners. This is what Hilbright secured. With this new convenient oasis of learning, no doubt we will all soon see the desired upturn of examination results in both quality and quantity.

Speaking to The Manica Post recently, the principal of the Hilbright Science College, Mr Beau Machingambi, could not hide his excitement about this new campus.

“It is 13 safe kilometres away from the city centre. The site is spacious and this is good news for sporting. We have enough land to put up tennis courts, football and netball fields, hockey fields…any sporting facility, because the land is there, not just beautiful, but plentiful,” he said. “We have put in place a perfect transport arrangement to and from the school,” he added.

“We have moved all our senior classes-Form 1 to 6 to the ‘New England’. Enrolment is in progress. We are still enrolling Lower Six students but have limited places for other classes. You will remember our policy is operating small classes…10, 12, 15, up to 25 students to ensure fluid teacher-pupil ratio that assures us of effective teaching and learning. That is critically important.”

Mr Machingambi told The Manica Post that the hall mark of Hilbright was a result-oriented institution offering high quality services. This new campus will enhance that objective and maintain our high performance track record.

The college’s vision, said Mr Machingambi, is a science offering a unique experience through education and research centres in Zimbabwe, the SADC region and Africa.

“It is our mission to produce God fearing, innovative Scientists with both skills and morals.”

The Manica Post supports hard work in teaching and learning, result-oriented effort, investment in individual talent, Godliness and high achievement. We wish Hilbright Science College the best in every sense at their new campus in the placid and peaceful environ of the Vumba.

Hilbright is ever trying to be a rainbow in each of its student’s cloud. Congratulations and well done!
