PEOPLE fully vaccinated can get Covid-19 booster shots to enhance their immunity as the country already has enough stocks for everyone and more are on the way, President Mnangagwa announced yesterday.

Government is already moving to have frontline health workers, those with chronic illnesses and the elderly get access to the boosters instantly.

A booster shot is taken by a vaccinated person as a way of increasing their immunity.

With new cases across the country surging in the wake of the Omicron variant first detected in Botswana and South Africa and now confirmed in Zimbabwe, it has necessitated being jabbed the booster shots.

President Mnangagwa has also urged all eligible people to get vaccinated and intensify the fight against the spread of the virus.

“I am asking you all to be vaccinated and this morning I made a decision that those who have been fully vaccinated can go for a booster shot, which is the third one if they want. We have enough doses for everyone in this country,” he said.

The President urged citizens to continue observing and upholding Covid-19 guidelines so as to minimise the risk of infection.
