CANDIDATES who contested in the recently held Zanu PF Mutare South House of Assembly primary elections have joined forces to campaign for the ruling party’s resounding victory in the upcoming harmonised elections.

The winning candidate, Cde Tawanda Dumbarimwe and two other contestants, Cdes Godfrey Harahwa and Brian Munakamwe, publicly joined forces during a colourful Women’s League rally that was held in Gombakomba last Saturday.

This was in response to a call by the Zanu PF Women’s League national secretary for administration, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, for them to bury the hatchet and work together.

“Politics is not about individualism. It is about the party, togetherness and knowing that you make good decisions for the people who voted you into power,” she said.

The team promised Senator Mutsvangwa a resounding victory for President Mnangagwa and the party.

Said Senator Mutsvangwa: “If you join forces, you will be able to defeat the opposition. In politics, you should not be a loner and take things personal. It is time to forgive and forget and move forward as a united front. The party is there for you and other cadres.

“What we want is to unite people so that we win resoundingly. No-one should go to the elections angry because their desired candidate did not make it during the primary elections. That is how protest voting starts.

“Many people cast protest votes in the past and ended up voting the opposition into power. That, however, did not end well for them as they are now regretting. The opposition-led councils are failing them. For three decades, opposition-led councils have failed everyone. They are wasting budget allocations on their personal gains,” she said.

Senator Mutsvangwa urged Cde Dumbarimwe to serve Mutare South Constituency diligently as a servant of the people.

“You are there to serve these people because they elected you. We should win resoundingly so that our President, who has been working tirelessly to develop the nation, keeps developing it,” said Senator Mutsvangwa.

Cde Dumbarimwe promised to work with his counterparts to ensure that the party wins in Mutare South.

“We will leave no stone unturned and we will not keep any grudges. As Mutare South, we promise that we will never let this seat slip into the hands of the opposition,” he said.

Cde Harahwa urged the people to vote for the party.

“Zanu PF is a party that has the people at heart. Vote for the party and you will see good results, unlike the opposition that has destroyed urban councils,” he said.

Cde Munakamwe asked his followers to support Cde Dumbarimwe.

Senator Mutsvangwa also left parents and school going children all smiles after donating exercise and textbooks to the Zimunya-Marange community.

She also donated a wheelchair to 17-year-old Beneficiary Zuze of Burma Valley.
