ZIMBABWEAN gospel artiste Victor Sibiya — who is currently domiciled in South Africa — is back in the studio working on new single after clinching a recording deal with Worshibho Timeless Studios.

Worshibho Timeless Studios is one of the leading recording brands in South Africa.

Famed for the hit song “Jesu Ouya”, the 40-year-old artiste, who shifted from composing love ballads to gospel, is gaining diverse musical experience from the South African gospel music fraternity.

He is excited that his brand and popularity are growing, and parachuted him into a partnership with the popular recording stable.

He is on the verge of releasing a single titled “Ndiye Mwari”.

Sibiya, a gifted songwriter and former member of the famous Celebration Choir, started singing when he was 12. His mother, who was a school choir director, inspired him to take up music seriously.

“In my teens I started writing love songs, but one of my good friends advised me to switch to gospel. I enrolled for music training in 2001 and undertook piano lessons with the Worship Music Academy. In 2005 I enrolled for bass guitar lessons with the Celebration School of Arts before enrolling for vocal lessons with the Zoe Voices Unlimited.

“I learnt these lessons well and this gave me some confidence to record my debut album titled ‘Ishe Vanoziva’ in 2003, which was produced by Jonathan Mgazi and Misheck Mahendere. That was the beginning of my musical journey,” he said.

He released the album “Mbiri” in 2007, which was produced by Forward Mazuruse before he unleashed another album titled “New Day”, which is available on digital stores across the globe.

He landed a recording contract with Worshibho Timeless Studios last year and he is currently working on a single that features CRM Praise.

He is inspired by American gospel artistes Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, Deitrick Haddon and Yolanda Adams, among others.

“My new project will certainly touch the hearts of many and I am happy with the progress made so far,” he said.

Worshibho Timeless Studios manager Pastor Farai Denhere said he was excited to work with Victor describing him as a talented and versatile artiste.

“Basically, the arts industry is suffering from lack of brotherhood in the sense that instead of supporting each other we aim to outgrow each other. People, particularly artistes, develop faster when working together and sharing resources and ideas. We offered the recording facility and we decided to support Victor because he has abundant talent,” he said.
