THE United Family International Church (UFIC) led by Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa was yesterday plunged into deep mourning following the death of its overseer, Pastor Jacob Tembo.
Pastor Tembo, who was the leader of UFIC in Manicaland, died after a short illness and his death was still shrouded in secrecy at the time of going to print.
Though UFIC Mutare secretary Mr Ephraim Togara had confirmed Pastor Tembo’s death, he could not divulge much iarguing that the clergyman’s demise was still a closely guarded secret.
Mr Togara insisted the clergyman’s death was “an internal matter” and the church was not ready to disclose more information.
“The information is still internal and we are not yet ready to disclose a lot of information about his death. Should we need to, we will get back to you with funeral details,” said Mr Togara.
However, The Manica Post was inundated with calls from congregants linking Pastor Tembo’s death to a recent prophecy by Prophet Makandiwa.
One of the congregants, who declined to be named citing church protocol, said Prophet Makandiwa had prophesied Pastor Tembo’s demise.
“He (Pastor Tembo) was told to be ready because the Lord was about to take him. Prophet Makandiwa also said saw a vision of Pastor Tembo in heaven,” said the congregant.
However, Mr Togara dismissed the reports as mere rumours being peddled by some congregants.
“Do not listen to what the so-called congregants are saying. The actual information is still internal and we will advise you in due course,” said Mr Togara before hanging up the phone.
