THE world’s population is growing, and with it, the demand for safe, nutritious food.

But traditional farming practices are putting a strain on our environment, jeopardising food security for future generations.

This is where Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG2): Zero Hunger comes in.

It is a call to action for a global shift towards agricultural practices that nourish both people and the planet.

“Achieving SDG2 is not just about feeding the world, it is about empowering communities, particularly women and children,” commented Agri-Journal editor, Obert Chifamba.

“Sustainable farming practices can create jobs, improve nutrition, and build resilience in the face of climate change,” he added.

The good news? Zimbabwe is taking a step towards a more sustainable future.

Today, March 15, 2024, the Zimpapers Horticulture Seminar is taking place at the Gohori Resort in Mutoko, in partnership with The Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ).

This exciting one-day event brings together leading experts, government officials, and passionate farmers to discuss innovative solutions for a thriving agricultural sector.

“This seminar is a unique opportunity for farmers of all levels to learn from the best. The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development is represented, alongside renowned speakers sharing their knowledge on sustainable practices,” says Zimpapers Public Relations and Communications Manager, Ms Pauline Matanda.

The seminar includes riveting panel discussions on topics like soil conservation, water management, and organic farming.

Tour exhibitor stands showcasing the technologies and resources for sustainable agriculture and take advantage of networking opportunities with fellow farmers, trade experts, and government representatives.

“Thank you to all of our partners who have helped to make this outreach seminar a success. This is a valuable resource for anyone looking to transition from subsistence farming to commercial farming. Learn how sustainable practices can not only increase your yields but also open doors to new markets and higher profits.
