THE singer of song of the moment titled, ‘Mukoma Panga’ and Rusape-born musician and lawyer, Panganai Hare, is confident of his future in the music industry after his debut six-track album titled Mbuva yehwiza that features star-studied and renowned bandsmen has received a thunderous applause across the sungura music spectrum.

Former Leonard Dembo and Alick Macheso’s guitarist Innocent Mujintu; Utakataka Express veteran guitarist Spencer Khumulani; chanter Shiga Shiga; Musaope Nkoma and former Alick Macheso’s drummer Obert Gomba are some of the bandsmen who feature on the album that has received rave reviews on several radio stations.

Weekender Entertainment caught up with Hare, whose song has been sitting comfortably on position one on Radio Zimbabwe Top 20 weekly charts. He revealed that among other aspirations, he intends to revolutionise sungura music and make it appealing to every spectrum of society including the executives and give the genre the much-needed swag.

“The song Panganai is about love. I am encouraging couples to be faithful to one another and not to take each other’s love for granted. Men should respect their partners and not to have a chain of girlfriends all over there are a lot of life-threatening diseases. I am extremely surprised by the response my debut album has received. I was just pursuing my passion but the market has judged positively. I am not in music industry to compete with anyone but to complement other players. Unity among musicians is my driving goal that is why l managed to work with instrumentalists of diverse backgrounds,” he said.

Hare, who is also a business executive and farmer, was born and bred in Vengere in Rusape, attended St Joseph’s Primary School in Rusape, Vengere High School School before enrolling for his Advanced Level education at Marist Brothers Nyanga. He later enrolled at UZ for a Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree.

He has worked with a number of musicians as a music promoter including Alick Macheso, the late Simon Chimbetu,  Tongai Moyo,  Cephas Mashakada, Suluman Chimbetu, Oliver Mtukudzi and Beater Mangethe.  Hare was the brains behind the famous collaboration between the late Beater Mangethe and Macheso. The album was co-produced by Bothwell Nyamhondera and Jabulani Ndlovu.

Other tracks on the album are Mariah, a duet with Somandla Mafia Ndebele, Zvibatwa, Jojo na Jojina and Mandiregerera, Zvinonganonga.
