Poor rains affect food security

Mutare District Development Coordinator Mr Wilson Boore says food insecure households in the district have increased due to low yields experienced last year as a result of poor rains.

In an interview this morning Mr Boore said there is need to increase food relief aid.

Meanwhile, Social Welfare Provincial Director, Mr Joseph Machisa has said over 80 000 households in the province are currently being supported by the department, adding that the numbers could double this year.
