THE revolutionary party, Zanu PF is now geared and well oiled to reclaim Makoni Central Constituency from the opposition in Wednesday’s harmonised elections.

Since losing the seat to the opposition in 2018, the party has been on the ground addressing the needs of the community, and citizens are warming up again to the party.

Zanu PF which will be represented by Cde Shepherd Nyika has an upper hand as the opposition is deeply divided with two candidates, outgoing MP, Mr David Tekeshe of MDC-T and Mr Patrick Sagandira of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) contesting.

Addressing thousands of party supporters at Vengere Stadium this afternoon, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Nokuthula Matsikenyere, said August 23 is the right time to kick out the opposition from the constituency and Rusape Town Council.

She added that evidence of incompetence of opposition councillors is there for everyone to see as service delivery has drastically gone down.

“This time Makoni Central should be in hands of a capable party which is Zanu PF. The party has vast experience in governance. Rusape is now a laughing stock due to poor service by opposition councillors. The whole town is full of sewer flowing and the councillors do not even care at all.

“We want to make sure that we correct the 2018 mistake and vote for Zanu PF candidates on Wednesday. Another five years of opposition will totally ruin the town and constituency. Roads have been neglected for a long time, only for President Mnangagwa to intervene under the Emergency Roads Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP) which has seen main roads being tarred in the town. Cde Nyika has proved to be a people oriented leader who deserve to be voted overwhelmingly,” said Cde Matsikenyere.

In an interview, Cde Nyika said the people of Makoni are appreciating the developmental projects of the Second Republic and are ready to reward President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF come Wednesday.

“The Second Republic has done extremely well here by the number of developmental projects that were rolled out which impacted on people’s lives

“The constituency is made up of urban, resettlement and communal areas and all areas were covered well.

“There has been massive electrification of schools and clinics, while inputs are being distributed on time even in urban areas”

“Extensive road rehabilitation is taking place and Rusape roads are being tarred after a very long time,” said Cde Nyika.
