ALL football roads in Manicaland will this Sunday lead to Sakubva Stadium where the first ever Premiership Mutare Derby pitting Manica Diamonds and Tenax explodes.

The contest is expected to generate huge interest among the followers of the game in the province and beyond and looks set to attract multitudes of fans.

Although the two Mutare-based teams previously met in the league’s curtain-raising tournament – the Chibuku Super Cup – late last year, they renew their rivalry as stakes have been raised for the Premiership contest.

Fans who spoke to Post Sport said they are looking forward to the contest with keen interest.

“I am certainly making a date to watch the match. Local derbies are always filled with fireworks and this is not a game to miss,” said Nyakazai Makotore of Chibuwe in Chipinge.

Mark Katungireni said he will travel all the way from Rusape to enjoy the action as a neutral supporter while also following his team CAPS United’s game against Dynamos on the same day in Harare.

Former Tanganda goalkeeper, Spencer Ngowe, who is now based in South Africa, expressed optimism that the two teams will rise to the occasion and play out a match for the archives.
