MUTASA Rural District Council is prioritising the completion of ongoing projects that are at various stages of implementation using devolution funds.

The local authority was allocated $1,8 million from the $21,3 billion Manicaland Province was set to receive under the 2023 devolution funds.

In an interview, Mutasa Rural District Council engineer, Engineer Tendai Danana, said four clinics are at various stages of construction using the devolution funds in a move aimed at improving access to quality and affordable healthcare services for villagers.

“All hands are on the deck for the construction of Magadzire Clinic in Ward 12. We are doing work on the main and small wings inhouse as council and it is progressing well. On the other hand, we have engaged a contractor to work on expecting mothers’ home, a patients’ waiting shade, a blair toilet, a water system toilet with a sceptic tank and the waste disposal facility. Completion of the clinic has been earmarked for the end of this month.

“As council, we have resolved to focus on developing one project at a time and see it to completion. We want to ensure that the area under our jurisdiction and its people is not left behind in line with National Development Strategy (NDS1) in pursuit of Vision 20230,” said Engineer Danana.

He added that other ongoing projects in the district include the construction of Mt Jenya, Muparutsa and Chidasembe clinics.
