My wife beats me
Dear Tete
I am a little embarrassed as I write this letter to you. My problem is one that the community refuses to believe that it exists. I blame the mindsets that are programmed to think that men are always the masculine one in a marriage. My wife is a bully who makes my life a living hell on earth. She is verbally abusive even in the presence of our two young children. My son has stopped respecting me and even slaps me “like what mummy” does. Five times my wife has beaten me. Twice she gave me a black eye, but I cannot report her to her people because they are generally aggressive people. Telling my family would just end up in a divorce. I cannot allow my children to be products of a broken home.

Why should you be embarrassed? You are a man in need of help, therefore my brother never be ashamed! You did not ask for this kind of life, no one does. Marriage can be like a beautifully wrapped gift from a known person. You open it with excitement, expecting to see something equally beautiful, only to be left in shock by the ugliness of the contents, sometimes. Getting help for yourself also means you have saved your children from living in a home that is abusive. Subjecting your children to such an environment can alter their behaviours negatively. No one should be abused and no one has the right to abuse another person. Report your case of gender based violence and live a happy life.
