THE Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe Beauty Pageant 2023 was a feast for the eyes as models from across the country showcased their talents on the rump at a local hotel last weekend.

From bold prints to delicate lace, the show had something for everyone as the 30 models cat-walked.

The biggest winner for the night, Evidence Gabi from Bulawayo, was crowned the queen.

She also scooped several accolades that include top model, best evening dress, best national costume and best advocacy for breast cancer awareness.

Mutare’s Carren Sakupwanya was crowned first princess, while Talent Queen from Harare was crowned second princess.

According to the judges, Gabi’s collection of dresses were a stand-out at the show.

They said the pieces she donned during the pageant were modern and edgy, with bold prints and great colours.

Gabi was over the moon after being crowned the queen.

She attributed her success to hard work and determination, despite the tough competition.

“I am at a loss of words. I was so nervous, especially when they called out the top 10 and then top five models. Hard work and determination paid off for me in the stiff competition,” she said.

She also got hampers from various sponsors.

Gabi will represent Zimbabwe at the Miss Fabulous International to be held in Thailand later this year.

In an interview, the organiser for the show, Simbarashe Gwawawa said: “All our models were superb, but Gabi was in a class of her own as she strutted down the rump in eye-catching designs.

“Overall, the show was a success, with many models showcasing their best work. While there were some mis-steps along the way, the show proved that fashion and advocacy is alive and well.”

He expressed confidence that Gabi will raise the country’s flag high in Thailand.

He urged stakeholders to support Gabi through sponsorship.

“The contest was very tough since everyone was well groomed and prepared for the pageant,” he said.

Gwawawa said the pageant seeks to inspire and empower women, as well as educate the public about the importance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer.

The event is an annual pageant that promotes breast cancer awareness through pageantry, arts and culture.

“We celebrate the courage and resilience of women who have fought this disease and inspire others to join the cause. The pageant is not about physical beauty, but about inner beauty and strength. The event raises funds and awareness for breast cancer research and prevention,” he said.

Proceeds from the pageant will be channelled towards breast cancer patients in Manicaland hospitals and vulnerable people across the country.

“We are committed to giving back to the society and supporting the well-being of our less fortunate citizens. That is why we have decided to allocate a portion of our earnings to provide essential hygiene products for those in need. Specifically, we will distribute sanitary pads and maternity pads to women and girls who face challenges in accessing them,” he said.
