ZANU PF Manicaland Province has applied to the national leadership to confer liberation hero status to the late Cde Kenneth Saruchera, who was the party’s long-serving secretary for administration.
Cde Saruchera died last Friday.
The ruling party’s provincial chairman Cde Mike Madiro said Cde Saruchera had served the province and party with distinction, and deserved to be conferred with the honour.
“Since independence, Cde Saruchera served in the party’s Manicaland provincial executive right up to the time of his death. He was a dedicated colleague, academic and businessman who was persistent and consistent in delivering whatever he set out to do. He was a key figure whose contribution to both the province and party was immense that he will greatly be missed and difficult to replace.
“Cde Saruchera, therefore, stands out as a liberation hero and as the Zanu PF Manicaland provincial leadership, we have applied to have him conferred with that honour because he deserves it for his sterling works,” said Cde Madiro.
