MBIRA music lovers are tonight (Friday) in for a treat as the second edition of the Heart of Mbira Music Festival roars to life.
Traditional music enthusiasts and fun lovers are expected to fill up the arts citadel as Mutare’s most popular mbira ensemble, NtswaiNtswai, will be showcasing their prowess on mbira, marimba and hosho.
The event is the brainchild of Mabvazuva Creative Hub in partnership with NtswaiNtswai which is led by seasoned artiste, Lino Piloto. Admission is US$2 and the event starts at 6pm till late.
Imbibers will enjoy the mbira carnival while enjoying booze in the lounge.
Chitsa Bar and Liquids
Back by popular demand, Mutare Samanyanga headlines this Sunday’s pleasure as he returns to his favorite hunting ground.
The Afro contemporary artiste who has been making waves for belting cover songs of the late national hero, Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi.
He has also crafted his own compositions.
The show starts at 6pm.
New kid on the block, Popinjo, who has been of late the darling of many patrons, thanks to his versatility, will perform tonight till Sunday alongside other resident DJs, T Muffin, Spillz and Wizzy.
Club Mandisa
After successfully hosting The pole dancer of the month contest last Saturday, the watering hole this weekend will entertain patrons with selected DJs led by Five Star starting today.
The DJs will play in the main auditorium, while strip teasers will take turns to gyrate on a pole in the VIP section.
Affordable and sumptuous meals and an assortment of beverages will be part of the products offered by the club management.
Micasa
The upmarket entertainment joint reintroduces its live reggae events every Wednesday.
Dubbed ‘Reggae Soul – Shaking night out’, the event will be hosted by rising reggae and ragga outfit, Just Friends.
It will be held this and other Wednesdays.
DJ Frazer will be on the turntables as from Wednesday to Sunday.
Other resident DJs, Terminator and Cape Lorel will take turns to entertain revelers tonight till Sunday.
Madziro
The entertainment joint situated along Mutare-Chimanimani Highway has upped its game by introducing Family Affair Sundays where seasoned DJ Candyman will be jamming this and every Sunday.
The wheel spinner will play tomorrow and Sunday alongside selected DJs from his stable.
Beats in the bush
A star-studied line up of Mcees and DJs such as Tatts and Butler will gather at an open air joint situated along the Mutare-Harare Highway for popular DJ Spy’s birthday bash.
The event scheduled for Saturday will start at 8pm till the last man drops.
