FIVE Mutare body builders will tomorrow (Saturday) compete in the 2017th edition of the Mr and Ms Ironman contest set for Bulawayo.
The contest will see Blessing Saunyama, Chamunorwa Marange, Simbarashe Munzara, Robert Saunyama and Lee Dzinzi battling it out in three categories, senior men body building, junior men body building and men fitness physic.
Among this year’s categories are also the ladies’ figure, disabled men and female bodybuilding. This year’s contest will be held at Bulawayo Theatre and is set to commence at 9am.
Saunyama is expected to face 2016’s Mr Ironman title holder, Paul Goredema from Harare in the senior men body building, while Dzinzi is expected to defend his Zim Junior Fitness title. Marange will also be the defending champion for the Mr Zim Fitness title. Munzara is contesting for the first time in the men fitness physic category.
Dzinzi promised fireworks in this year’s competitions and said: “I am more than ready and confident enough to be the best among the best. I have no doubt that I am coming back with the Mr Ironman title. As a team, we have been training hard and we will do our level best to make Manicaland very proud,” said Dzinzi.
Saunyama expressed appreciation for the support they received from Manicaland Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Association, sponsors and supporters. “I like to thank Siba Guzha of Body Focus Gym, businessmen, Kenneth Muchina and Canaan Matiashe among other sponsors and supporters for their unwavering support in our preparations of the contest. The title is coming to the eastern border city and there is no doubt about that. We shall also continue to train harder for upcoming events,” said Saunyama.
He appealed to all interested females to join MABBFA as there are also female categories in all the competitions held at provincial, national and international levels.
