Employee in dock for sending abusive messages to employer

A 38-YEAR-OLD Mutare man appeared in court last week for sending abusive and threatening text messages to his employer.Bright Makombe of House Number 9127, Natview Park was being charged with contravening Section 88 (b) of the Post and Telecommunications Act, Chapter 5:06.

He appeared before Mrs Sekai Chiundura who found him guilty and ordered him to pay $50 fine or spent 60 days behind bars.

Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.

The court heard that on August 10 at around 11am, Makombe was in the city when Walter Nyaungwa (46) of House Number 4682, Bernwin spotted him and reported a theft case against him at Mutare Central Police Station.

“Nyaungwa was Makombe’s employer.

“When Makombe knew that he was being suspected of theft he started sending text messages containing vulgar language to Nyaungwa,” said Mr Karombe.

Asked why he texted the messages, Makombe said: “Each time he misses something at work, I am the first person whom he suspects,” he said.
