Following a heated domestic dispute over sadza, a Marange man is now facing murder charges after stabbing his cousin to death.

Kuziva Mukunguma appeared before Justice Hlekani Mwayera for contravening Section 47 (1) (a) or (b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].

The court heard that on April 19, 2019, the deceased, Agent Mukunguma, had restrained Kuziva from assaulting his wife over a sadza dispute.

This did not go down well with Kuziva, who allegedly stabbed Agent to death with a knife.

Justice Mwayera is hearing the case with the assistance of Messrs Chipere and Mudzinga.

Mr Malvern Musarurwa is prosecuting.

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the murder charge, arguing that he stabbed Agent in self-defence.

It is the State’s case that on the day in question, the accused person fought with his wife, Beaulah Mutoma, following a domestic dispute.

Mutoma confirmed this, adding that the deceased came to her rescue and stopped Kuziva from further assaulting her.

However, the suspect turned on the now deceased and a physical fight ensued between the two men.

Simbanai Mawoyo and Pirato Machingura tried to stop the fighting duo but when the violence persisted, Mutoma and her children sought refuge at a neighbour’s homestead.

She later learnt that her husband had stabbed his cousin to death.
