In a serious case of domestic violence, Joseph Sithole (38) of Derera Business Centre under Chief Ngorima’s area is fighting for his life at a local hospital after his wife stabbed him several times after he had caught her red-handed with another man, only identified as Danga.
When confronted over the issue, Tambudzai Makojo (44) allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Sithole, leaving him for dead.
Makojo has since been arrested and is assisting police with investigations. Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident and said Sithole is battling for his life in hospital.
“On the day in question, Joseph Sithole was in the company of his brother, Wilson Sithole on their way from Derera Business Centre when they met Makojo and Danga walking together. Danga was known as Makojo’s boyfriend.
“Joseph confronted Makojo over the issue. A heated argument ensued, resulting in a fistfight between the couple. Danga intervened, asking who Sithole was to stop them (Makojo and Danga) from walking together. Sithole turned to Danga and he took to his heels,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
Sithole and Makojo proceeded home, but they continued arguing.
Makojo allegedly grabbed a knife from her pocket and stabbed Sithole on the neck, collar bone and head.
The matter was reported at Kurwaisimba Police Station and Makojo was arrested.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka urged couples to solve marital disputes amicably.
He also urged couples to seek counselling or mediation from trusted parties when they face challenges in their relationships.
“The police will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone who violates the law and harm their spouses or partners,” he said.
