A RUSAPE man was last week gruesomely murdered in cold blood by his two irate brothers for trying to repossess his pair of farmer shoes that he had given to one of the two siblings.

The two alleged assailants, Dumba White (46) and Philemon White (44), took turns to fatally assault the now late Ndowa Kamuchacha White (46) with fists and a wooden axe handle.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident that happened in Village 40A, Datata, Inyati in Rusape.

He said the alleged killers disappeared soon after committing the heinous act and are still at large.

“Ndowa gave Philemon a pair of his farmer shoes in exchange of firewood that the latter was supposed to fetch for him. Philemon, however, took more time to deliver the firewood. On the fateful day, a misunderstanding arose between the two as they were coming from a memorial service in Ngenje Village. Ndowa told Philemon to return the pair of farmers shoes for failing to deliver the firewood. On that day, Philemon was wearing the shoes. This did not go down well with Philemon who picked up some stones and attacked his brother.

“Their brother, Dumba joined the attack, and they took turns to assault Ndowa with fists. A passerby, Ms Esnath Simbini, witnessed the fight and tried to restrain them to no avail,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.

He said Ndowa later followed his two brothers and pelted them with stones.

“One of the brothers took an axe handle from the kitchen hut and assaulted Ndowa several times all over the body. The two later dragged Ndowa from his hut and fled from the scene after realising that he had been severely injured,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.

Police have since launched a manhunt to bring the culprits to book.

“We are appealing to members of the public with information leading to the arrest of the two to contact their nearest police station. We will leave no stone unturned to bring the alleged killers to book. We continue to urge people to settle disputes amicably and maturely to avoid these kind of deaths,” added Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
