REFURBISHMENT work being carried out at Mt Melleray Mission Hospital in Nyanga District to give it a major facelift under Government’s drive to improve the national health delivery system are progressing well.
The hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr Mellisa Muranda, said all departments at the health facility will be revamped and they have started receiving the material required for the work.
She added that a Covid-19 isolation centre will also be constructed at the hospital as part of efforts to step up intervention measures and response programmes to the pandemic.
“We are well on course with the renovations and are grateful for the assistance we received from Government through the Ministry of Health and Child Care. The development will certainly improve the quality of service delivery here,” said Dr Muranda.
The Roman Catholic Church-run institution is among facilities that have benefited from Government-driven solar projects aimed at providing consistent supply of electrical power at health institutions across the country and has been upgraded from being a clinic.
Government is moving in improving the country’s health delivery system under National Development Strategy (NDS1) in pursuit of Vision 2030.
