FAILURE to tame his volatile temper saw a Mutare man turning violent, leading to his arrest, and court appearance on assault, and malicious damage to property charges this week.

Stewart Kutamahufa Muchena appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Prisca Manhibi, facing three counts of assault, and one count of malicious damage to property.

Ms Tafadzwa Chiwanza prosecuted.

The court heard that on October 24, Beatrice Dzobo — who was in the company of James Jakachira, Confelous Dzobo and Nyasha Makoto — went to Plot 48, Weirmouth, Mutare with the intention of recovering money Muchena owed Beatrice.

“They were told by Muchena’s son that his father was not around, and they opted to wait for him. Muchena arrived 30 minutes later, and attacked Beatrice with a hoe handle, ordering her and her team to leave,” said Ms Chiwanza.

When Jakachira and Confelous tried to intervene and save Beatrice from the assault, Muchena turned on them.

Muchena went on a rampage and smashed three windows on Makoto’s vehicle using the same weapon.

The value of the damaged property is US$320, and nothing was repaired.

All the assaulted complainants were medically examined, and the medical reports can be produced in court.

The matter was adjourned to November 26 for trial.
