ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa says the country is well on course to turn around its economic fortunes under the able leadership of President Mnangagwa.
Speaking at the Medical and Dental Private Practitioners of Zimbabwe Association (MDPPZA) annual conference in Mutare recently, Ambassador Mutsvangwa said while the country lost some momentum during the First Republic, the able leadership of President Mnangagwa guarantees a stable economy.
He urged Zimbabweans to have confidence in President Mnangagwa’s vision.
Ambassador Mutsvangwa said the sanctions that were imposed on Zimbabwe in close to two decades ago should not deter Zimbabweans from being confident in their country, its leadership and its potential to have a leading and stable economy.
“The whole purpose of the sanctions that were imposed on the country was for Zimbabweans to lose their own confidence. The whole purpose of sanctioning everything was to shake the confidence of the people, but Zimbabwe is destined to succeed regardless of the sanctions. The people are unshakable as they do not lose their confidence that easily.
“We lost a bit of momentum under the previous leadership, but with this new kind of political organisation and historical aspect, it means that we can scale any difficulties which will be brought our way,” he said.
Ambassador Mutsvangwa said Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 of attaining an upper middle class economy by 2030 has managed to attract hundreds of investors who are interested in doing business in the country, with some already investing.
Under the Second Republic, Zimbabwe has already attracted major companies in the agricultural, mining, energy and infrastructure development sectors.
“We should not lose hope in the country. It is time to believe in it, invest and attract more investors from outside the country regardless of whether you are in the private sector or not.
“Have confidence in yourselves. Start looking for investments under the New Dispensation. We are scaling heights which have never been known in this continent,” said Ambassador Mutsvangwa.
“There is one thing about the revolutionary party and its love for this country. It always delivers on its promises. We said we would deliver you independence and we did so in 1980. We said we would deliver the best education in Africa and we delivered. Today we top in education on the continent,” he said.
Ambassador Mutsvangwa said the country has the best resources per capita in the world.
“Zimbabwe has 60 minerals, most of which are top minerals in the world. We have the best agricultural climate in the world. All we needed was the political structure to defend what we have and we now have that. Those structures will help take us to the next stage,” he said.
MDPPZA president, Dr Johannes Marisa said as private medical practitioners, they are interested in investing in the country, saying no one else, except Zimbabweans, will transform the nation.
“Let us stop undermining ourselves as Zimbabweans and continue to work hard so that we build the Zimbabwe that we want. No one will come and build Zimbabwe for us. We have to bring our minds together, invest in our country and brace for what comes next,” he said.
