ZIMBABWE is on course to meet the demand for Covid-19 vaccine doses and is expecting to take delivery of a consignment of two million more on Thursday and another 1,5 million next week as Government moves to meet the growing demand in the wake of rising cases and related deaths.

The country received 500 000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines last week and the additional doses will ensure all centres can attend to people in need of vaccination as efforts to ramp up the exercise in hotspot zones, border towns and areas frequented by many people like market places continue.

Health and Child Care Deputy Minister Dr John Mangwiro said the country is geared to meet the demand for the vaccine doses, especially in areas where positive cases continued to surge. He also urged Zimbabweans to continue taking up vaccination, emphasising that this is important in ensuring that the country attains herd immunity.

Dr Mangwiro said distribution of the expected doses would be done according to provinces and district health facilities’ holding capacity of their cold chains.
