ZANU PF Manicaland Women’s League provincial executive has been urged to unite and move forward in preparation for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for March 26.
Addressing new executive committee members in Mutare yesterday (Thursday), re-elected Women’s League provincial chairlady, Cde Happiness Nyakuedzwa, urged new office bearers to unite for the good of the party.
She said the executive members’ goal should be to mobilise voters to come in their numbers and vote for the revolutionary party in the upcoming Chikanga-Dangamvura parliamentary and local authorities by-elections.
Cde Nyakuedzwa said in ZANU PF there are no losers or winners.
“The provincial elections are now behind us and there was no winning or losing candidate. We are all party members who should shun factionalism because at the end of the day, our goal is to ensure victory for the party. As leaders, we should pray and restore the party’s legacy by moving forward,” she said.
Cde Nyakuedzwa also rallied on cadres to mobilise new members to ensure that the party secures five million votes in next year’s harmonised elections.
“Statistics say that there are 1,8 million people in Manicaland, and the larger percentage is women. Women’s League is the party’s backbone and we should all work hard to mobilise people in our respective districts and ensure that our five million votes are guaranteed during next year’s harmonised elections,” she said.
“We are all ZANU PF members and our goal is to win next year’s harmonised elections. While I am grateful to those who rendered their support to me during the provincial elections, it should be put on record that there are no enemies in ZANU PF. We vote for the party and not individuals,” said Cde Nyakuedzwa.
In an interview, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Minister Nokuthula Matsikenyeri also preached the unity gospel, reiterating that party members should work together.
She congratulated Cde Nyakuedzwa for retaining her post as the provincial Women’s League.
“Elections are over, and it is time that we unite and get the ball rolling for the 2023 harmonised elections. We should all work together because we belong to one revolutionary party,” she said.
