A SCANDALOUS love triangle has left tongues wagging in Chigodora area of Mutare’s peri-urban after it was discovered that two lovers were quenching their sexual appetite while the woman’s husband and daughter slept on the same bed.
This was revealed after 22-year-old Rutendo Gopito confessed to bedding her lover, Joshua Chabodo, as her husband, Isaac Gopito and her two-year-old daughter slept on the same bed.
The matter appeared before Village head Chikara and a ruling is yet to be made.
In an interview last week on Friday, Rutendo said Chabodo would get Isaac drunk before escorting him home.
She would then sleep with both of them on the same bed.
Rutendo would then become intimate with Chabodo as her husband lay drunk.
“I was a very faithful wife to my husband until Chabodo showed me pornographic material on his phone. Chabodo would buy Isaac a lot of beer and get him drunk. He would escort him home and since Isaac would be drunk and not knowing what would be happening, I would become intimate with Chabodo in the same room,” she said.

The affair happened for a month until Isaac’s relatives caught them red-handed.
The Gopito family saw Chabodo leaving Rutendo and Isaac’s bedroom early one morning and checked if Isaac was in. That is when all hell broke loose.
They demanded to know the truth, but Rutendo would not budge.
She insisted that Chabodo had come in to see Isaac who was still suffering from a hang-over.
Isaac’s sister, Jennifer Gopito-Chinzvende, said Rutendo only confessed after they assaulted her.
“She did not only confess to cheating on my brother with Chabodo, but with another man, Freddy Mwatutsa.
“While she slept with Chabodo in the same room with my brother, with Mwatutsa, they would be intimate in the bushes. My brother did not know anything and had it not been for us, she would still be cheating on him. He would still be trusting both Rutendo and his friend, Chabodo,” said Chinzvende.
Isaac’s mother, Margaret Mhlanga, said while it is true that Isaac would be drunk when his wife got intimate with another man next to him, it is also important to note that he is partially deaf.
“I wonder what state of drunkenness my son was in for these two people to enjoy themselves in his presence. Had he not been partially deaf, he would have heard them because some neighbours had been complaining of the steamy noises that were emanating from Isaac and Rutendo’s bedroom each night.
“All along we thought it was Isaac and Rutendo enjoying themselves, yet it was Chabodo and Rutendo,” said the elderly woman.
Village Head Chikara said Chabodo pleaded guilty to sleeping with his friend’s wife in Gopito’s bedroom.
“He confessed to his sins and is awaiting sentence. However, Mwatutsa is denying the allegations that are being levelled against him. We will conduct some traditional rituals that will bring out the truth on March 5,” said Village Head Chikara.

He said when such abomination happens in the Zimunya area, the cheating woman will remove her underwear and rub it on the face of the man she would have slept with in front of everyone.
“A woman will never rub her underwear on someone’s face if she has never slept with him. These are our traditional customs and rituals. We will know on that day if Mwatutsa is telling lies or not,” he said.
Contacted for comment, Chabodo switched off his phone shortly after the reporter introduced herself.
However, in an interview, Mwatutsa insisted that he was being framed and that he never slept with Rutendo.
“I believe it is her mother-in-law who is framing me because she at one time warned me against proposing love to her (the mother-in-law), which I had never done. I will be at the court on March 5 and the truth will come out. I am innocent,” he said.
Efforts to contact Isaac remained fruitless.
