THE Year 2023 was no doubt another gospel supremo, Dorcas Moyo’s fairytale rollercoaster ride after she dominated the end of year closing chats at most radio stations with the soulful and hit song, Mhanzahaisekwe, featuring sungura veteran, Alick Macheso.

Mhanzahaisekwe, is the title track of the album which was released early last year.

It has 11 songs.

Moyo had the privilege to have Macheso who boasts of three decades in the music industry joining in on the project to make it a sublime piece of art.

Macheso features on vocals as well as on bass guitar.

The multiple award-winning artiste was on position one on Star FM’s Gospel Greats Top 20, while she was on position two on Diamond FM.

She was also on number two at Hevoi FM, while on Radio Zim she was the best female artiste while seated on position six.

She was also the most outstanding female position on National FM, seated at position eight, while the Mhanzahaisekwe video was seated on position 20.

This was indeed a historic feat for the gospel musician who stormed into the gospel music scene more than 10 years ago with a soulful album, Ndokusheedzai Jesu in 2005.

This is also a remarkable achievement for Mhanzahaisekwe’s producer, Olin Anderson, who managed to have a fairytale and unforgettable date with Macheso at his Chikanga-based studios, Kunashe Records.

Speaking in Mutare when Macheso and his manager, Tich Makahamadze visited Kunashe Studios to record the song, they said they enjoyed the moments.

“It is always our pleasure to work with various artistes and we are glad to be in Mutare for the carving of another good song,” said Makahamadze.

In an interview on New Year’s Day, the elated Moyo, said 2023 was a year that had a myriad of challenges and on the flipside an avalanche of blessings.

“We would like to thank our fans. We could not have made this feat without them. Their support is of immeasurable value to our work. We have achieved a lot because of their relentless support. Dorcas Moyo Music is dumbfounded and short of words to express how we appreciate our listeners’ support,” said Moyo.

Her manager, Peter Madondo, relished working with the ‘humble’ Macheso.

“The encounter with sungura virtuoso was also an exhilarating experience. We pushed to the limit and I am happy to have gained expanse knowledge from the experience. Alick Macheso is a big brand and befittingly it is not easy to hook him to work with you. Baba aSharo (Macheso) was so helpful, and we eventually got the collabo which I can safely say was very successful.

We have established a relationship that has really smoothened our core workmanship, and I believe if we need to work together in any way, we should not have much hassles,” he said.

“Weekender Entertainment can exclusively reveal that Moyo is already working on a new album set for release on April 27.

“Preparations are already in progress, and we are anticipating to give Mutare residents an unforgettable experience.

“We will not give much details, but I promise that it will be one of our best projects ever. The Year 2023 saw us performing at most of national galas held across the country.

“It was a pulsating experience and will go down a long way in our memory lane. Our biggest message to our fans as we embark on the Journey 2024 is that we need them more than we did last year.

“The pressure continues to mount from our end in particular and from the music industry at large. We promise we will never take our fans’ contribution for granted,” added Madondo.
